I really had no comment on whether or not Gov. Piyush Jindal's Katrina story was a falsehood. My only comment has been that it was interesting that he would mention the failures of a Republican Administration along with all levels of government in Louisiana during Katrina. Most Republicans and so-called conservatives defended the response to Katrina as adequate and some even praised Bush for doing a heck of a job.

So for Piyush to criticize the Federal response without actually naming FEMA was an interesting part of the Republican response to President Obama's Congressional Address. However, the story Jindal told pales in comparison to the Katirna story told to the late Tim Russert on "Meet The Press" by Jefferson Parish President Aaron Broussard.

The story about FEMA officials asking people if they had a permit to put a boat in the water to go rescue people is the real story, not whether or not Governor Piyush Jindal made up a story about being offered up for federal arrest by a democratic "yellow dog" sheriff. What FEMA did goes beyond the problems associated with Bureaucracy, what FEMA did was downright criminal and forever a stain on Bush's nightmarish reign as the most inept President of our time. And while we are on the subject of Katrina and Louisiana, write Governor Jindal and Attorney General Eric Holder and ask them why there has been no investigation into Louisiana's dirty little secret about gun toting racists shooting Katrina survivors.

Believe me, I (we) are totally embarrassed by Jindal's response to President Obama's speech. From his delivery to its content to its twist on the truth. But in my opinion, that is how republicans usually do it -- especially the twist on the truth. If you listen to "republican radio," you will see how the stimulus package is a "bunch of wasted money" bound to help no one. I happen to work for the state and know first hand how our state's budget crisis is affecting everything.

I want to encourage everyone to read for themselves. Do not listen to "republican rhetoric."
