I am sitting here perplexed and amazed the second "time" in nearly as many months (more so than usual *impish grin*). Last month a friend of mine (visual artist, musician, writer) down on his luck and blessed to be staying at local shelter was trying to make a flute out of a stick of bamboo he had found, when another man asked my artist friend what he was doing and my artist friend told him, the man asked "What is a flute?"
Tonight some kids (teens) where hanging outside the hall where we poet's were doing our thing, my friend Anika (librarian, poet, storyteller) and a sucker for the young ones like I am, went out to invite them to join us. they asked her what we were doing she tells them poetry. They respond, "Poetry? What is that?"
Okay folks this is America (last "time" I checked, anyway.) What are we doing wrong? Where have we missed?
Now if your brave and ya dare, got a question for ya, what ever art form is your passion, What is it to you? How would you describe it to someone who has no clue? (I double dare ya)
Shocked but curious ... *listening for your response*
Harmony and Peace,
Just plain ole Jo
